Strengthening Türkiye’s Climate Finance Architecture

Strengthening National Capacity in Climate Finance Project Officially Launched in Türkiye.

This EU-funded initiative supports Türkiye’s institutional and technical capacity in climate finance, sustainable finance mechanisms, and stakeholder coordination. The project is a critical step toward achieving national mitigation targets and increasing resilience against climate change.

Key Focus Areas:
Support for the National Green Taxonomy & development of draft National Climate Finance Strategy (NCFS)
Establishment of climate finance instruments and sustainable policies.
Institutional capacity building and stakeholder engagement.

Short Project Description

Title: Strengthening the National Capacity of Climate Finance.

Overview: This 24-month technical assistance project is implemented under the leadership of the Directorate of Climate Change (DoCC) of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change (MoEUCC). The project consortium is led by NIRAS IC Sp. z o.o., with technical support from ESCARUS, adelphi, and ENVESU.
Primary Objectives:Overall Objective: To better equip Türkiye to achieve climate change mitigation targets and enhance resilience against adverse climate impacts.
Specific Objective: To improve Türkiye’s policy framework and national capacity for climate finance.
Context: The project aligns Türkiye’s national climate governance with the 2053 net-zero target and the EU sustainable finance acquis, particularly in the lead-up to Türkiye hosting COP31.
